I am a Dutch-Italian fencer. My passion for fencing, epee, has taught me the importance of qualities such as concentration, discipline and determination, which I apply not only in this sport but also in my studies. When you are engaged in a qualifying season and at the same time you study it key to have careful but flexible planning, to be able to dedicate the right amount of time to both training and studying, creating a balance between physical and mental dedication. I have been living this duality since the age of 10 and if on one hand it can be challenging on the other it enriches me and pushes me to constantly improve. Sometimes all the travelling can be hard, but if I have weeks without training, camps or competitions I feel like one part of me craves for it.
I have been always a sporty boy since the age of 4, but nothing captured my heart like fencing. This discipline joins together beauty, power, history and honour. When I am on the piste in a bout the world around no longer exists, and as much as stamina is high at the same time a sense of peace prevails. When you hit the opponent a wave of calm splashes. I guess only who practices this sport can really feel what I mean
